Kashi whole grain bars pulled on Listeria concerns

Check your cupboards. Kashi brand whole grain bars have been recalled by the company due to concerns of Listeria monocytogenes, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said in a release Friday evening.

Two products sold nationally are covered by the recall:

The six pack of trail mix whole grain bars, 210 gram size, with UPC 0-18627-43610-2 and the 18 pack of whole grain bars, 630 grams, with UPC 0-18627-50406-1.

The agency says Listeria monocytogenes may be hard to detect as the product may not smell or look bad.

"Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness," the CFIA warns.

In severe cases, death could result but there have been no reported illnesses at this time.
